Blogging Break

According to the books about blogging, bloggers should post regularly or they will lose their readers. When something occurs in real life that interferes with the ability to post regularly, the blogger is supposed to advise the readers what has occurred so that the readers understand that the blog has not been abandoned.

So....

By the way, I don't know who thought of this advertising idea at the Somerset Medical Center parking deck, but it is brilliant...

After three weeks of driving under this sign and parking free, compliments of Flemington Car and Truck Company, I would go to their dealership if I were shopping for a car.

Of course, after this I probably can't afford a new car...

Happy Irish Setter Day

St. Patrick's Day seems an appropriate time to post photographs from last year's 8th Adopt-A-Setter Reunion.

Yes, I know there are pictures of dogs that are not Irish Setters...they are usually the siblings of the rescued Irish.

##

These photographs were taken by Susan Gulliford and George Mariasz.
Due to the large number of photographs, they reduced them in size to view online, so they won't print as clearly as the originals.

High School RoboRaiders Fundraiser Dinner

The Hillsborough High School RoboRaiders team is having an All-You-Can-Eat Pasta Dinner fundraiser this Saturday, March 7th, 4 to 8 p.m. at the Hillsborough Municipal Building. Prices are Adults - $10. Seniors - $7, and Children (3-10) - $5.

Team RoboRaiders is the Hillsborough High School Robotics Team which competed last weekend at the 2009 FIRST Robotics New Jersey Regional Competition in Trenton. I wanted to go to photograph our team, but couldn't find a companion to go into Trenton with me; I'm not known for my sense of direction. So...the photograph above was taken at Hillsborough's Memorial Day Parade.

According to the USFIRST website, Hillsborough will be competing in Annapolis, Maryland, at the Chesapeake Regionals, March 19th - 21st.
FIRST is the acronym for "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology."

Keep track of these team members, someday they will be your bosses.

Happy St. David's Day

Dydd Gwyl Dewi Sant

St. David [c. fifth/sixth century] was recognised as a national patron saint at the height of the Welsh resistance to the Normans, according to Wikipedia. March 1st is celebrated as his feast day as it is generally recognised as the date of his death.

Leeks and daffodils are Welsh symbols. Legend claims that in 633 leeks were worn by a Welsh troop to distinguish themselves from the English (Saxon) enemy, while the alternative (and less aromatic) daffodil - which blooms at about this time - is preferred by the English government as being less representative of Welsh nationalism (Plaid Cymru). Their Welsh names are similar: cenhinen = leek, cenhinen Pedr = daffodil/Peter's leek.
